My Labyrinth Series reconnects to my career working in textiles, quilting, and specifically to the reverse appliqué technique.
Often my work emphasizes a painterly approach and appearance, but these are clearly more quilterly. These pieces have the patchwork and traditional Americana quilt repeat patterning, but most importantly an obvious reference to Molas, one of my original technique inspirations.
Additionally I was thinking about mazes, labyrinths, twisting Celtic knots, Greek key graphics, and tribal African kuba cloth.
