Art for Global Aid is my new series of wall pieces which raises funds for NGOs that provide relief in humanitarian disasters around the world.  It started with a piece, Soniashnyk, (Ukrainian for Sunflower) which I launched in the months after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

I started with one piece to test the waters, showing it only on my Facebook page. It sold within 24 hours, with all the proceeds going to relief for Ukraine refugees.

With that encouraging start, I decided to make it an ongoing series.  It's a way to leverage the work of my studio practice to do some good in the world.  To make this sustainable, a portion of the proceeds goes back into production, and a portion is donated to an NGO of the buyer's choice. At this point we've sold 17 of these, raising $12,700 for the NGOs.

The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), Doctors Without Borders, International Red Cross, and World Central Kitchen are among the clients' chosen recipients.

A new piece will be unveiled at my Studio Open House on October 20 - 22, to help provide relief for the Maui Wildfire disaster. The imagery will relate to Maui. We'll get that image uploaded here at that time.

There are so many humanitarian crises to choose to support in this age of climate change and geo-political turmoil, that I intend to continue this as long as I'm still working.

Thank you to all those collectors who've made this concept work, especially Paula N and Nancy J.
